I’ve been an IHG member since 2017 and have stayed at countless properties, but my recent two-day stay was one of the worst check-in experiences I’ve ever had – all thanks to one staff member: Tika. Unprofessional and Unavailable at Check-In When I arrived, there was no one at the front desk. No bell, no note – just an empty lobby. I waited until I had to check the hotel office myself. Tika eventually came out from the back, clearly annoyed, and made it obvious she didn’t want to help. From the next 1+ hrs observation while I experienced worse treatment there, I found I was not the only guest kept waiting while Tika was absent from front desk. Reservation Mishandled – Excuses Instead of Help I called the hotel 3 hours before arrival to have my name added to my husband's reservation. I was told it was done. But when I tried to check in, no such note was found. Instead of helping, Tika gave me a hard time and refused to look for alternative solutions I proposed. Even though the IHG hotline staff was on the phone with me later, actively trying to assist by requesting that my name be added again, Tika put her on a long hold, then came back with a string of ridiculous excuses for why it couldn’t be done. The most absurd excuse? That I don’t share the same last name as my husband, so she couldn’t add me to the reservation. Since when is this an IHG policy? Is there an actual rule stating that only people with matching last names can be added to a reservation?’ve never encountered it in my many years of traveling. This felt like nothing more than a lazy excuse to avoid doing her job. Ignored While Other Guests Were Helped First While this issue was not being sorted out, Tika continued to help other guests who arrived after me, while I stood there waiting – despite being clearly in the middle of an active issue and call with IHG support. I waited for over an hour, and during that time, Tika’s attitude was extremly rude, arrogant, and dismissive throughout. If the hotel cares about guest experience, I urge management to check the camera footage from that evening. No Recognition of Membership – Water Thrown on Desk After my husband arrived and we were finally allowed to check in, there was no acknowledgment of our IHG membership – no welcome gift, no details about breakfast, no information about hotel amenities. When I asked about the complimentary water for members, Tika practically threw the bottles onto the counter. Her behavior was disrespectful and entirely unprofessional. Complaint Ignored So Far I’ve already filed a complaint with IHG and am still waiting to hear back from the hotel. Based on how this stay went, I won’t hold my breath. Most other front desk staff were polite and professional during the two-day stay, but Tika's behavior was so far below any standard of hospitality that I can't in good conscience recommend this property. Until management takes real action to train or replace unprofessional staff, I strongly suggest staying else
